About Us
KHEAA is the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority, a state agency established in 1966 to improve students’ access to higher education. KHEAA strives to expand educational opportunities by providing financial and informational resources that help Kentuckians attain their educational goals. Most notably, KHEAA administers state student aid such as the Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES) program, the College Access Program (CAP) Grant, the Kentucky Tuition Grant (KTG) and other scholarship and grant programs. KHEAA also provides college access programming across the Commonwealth via its robust array of outreach services and free print and electronic resources to help students and families plan for postsecondary education.
KHEAA is combined administratively with the Kentucky Higher Education Student Loan Corporation (KHESLC), an independent public agency established in 1978 to ensure Kentucky students have access to funds and to promote higher education opportunities by making, purchasing, and financing low-cost student loans. KHESLC’s low-cost Advantage Education Loan offers competitive interest rates and zero fees to help families who need extra funds pay less for their education loans. KHESLC is Kentucky’s only non-profit student loan lender.
KHEAA and KHESLC share the common mission of ensuring all students who want to further their postsecondary education are successful. Our vision is to connect all Kentuckians with higher education.
